Solution
The deterioration caused in the environment due to unscientific and improper use of chemical substances for various purposes is called chemical pollution.
Its two effects are:
- Health Hazards: Exposure to chemical pollutants can cause a range of health problems in humans, including respiratory issues, skin irritations, neurological disorders, and increased risk of cancers.
- Ecosystem Damage: Chemical pollutants can disrupt ecosystems by harming wildlife, reducing biodiversity, and altering habitats. This can lead to population declines in sensitive species and overall imbalance in natural communities.
Practical ways to minimize it are:
- The wastewater, dyes and other liquids released from industrial areas must be purified before mixing them into water bodies.
- Noxious smokes from industries should not be allowed to spread in air.
- Vehicles and industries should be kept in proper conditions
- Unnecessary use of fertilizers and pesticides should not be done.
