Ethane is a saturated hydrocarbon with two carbons.

When two hydrogen atoms from a saturated hydrocarbon with two carbons are removed it forms ethylene ( \(\rm C_{2}H_{4}\) ) also known as ethene. 

The compound formed by addition of one hydrogen atom in one carbon and one hydroxyl group in another carbon of ethene is ethyl alcohol or ethanol(  \(\rm C_{2}H_{5}OH\) ).One of its application is:
